Help for Victims of Earthquake in China
BARTEC donates 10,000 € for mission of Chinese Red Cross in
Sichuan
As a consequence of the disastrous earthquake in China, almost 40,000
people lost their lives in the province of Sichuan alone which has been
affected most by the disaster. According to government estimations, almost
five million inhabitants have become homeless. In the disaster area there
is an urgent need for financial and material donations in order to relieve
the immediate suffering.
As a sign of solidarity and closeness to
its Chinese employees and customers, BARTEC CMO Lothar Mezger who was in
China during the earthquake disaster promised immediate assistance. BARTEC
Germany as well as BARTEC Shanghai supported the Chinese Red Cross with a
donation of 50,000 RMB (approx. 10,000 EUR in total). Furthermore the
employees of the Chinese sales unit took part with a generous donation for
the needy persons. The donated money will be used for the emergency relief
in the province of Sichuan where also some employees and customers come
from. Hundreds of volunteers of the Chinese Red Cross have been working
untiringly to find persons buried by the earthquake and to distribute
relief supplies to the homeless. Things most urgently needed are tents,
blankets as well as water purification tablets and food.
The safety
technology provider based in Bad Mergentheim has been active in China for
